
Online | Building a Strong IEP
Instructor: Michelle McGowan, Special Education Advocate
Michelle is a dedicated Special Education Advocate with over 20 years of experience supporting students with disabilities, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Emotional Disturbance, and Intellectual Impairment. She is also involved in the District Attorney’s Juvenile Diversion Initiative, where she works to keep youth diploma-bound, collaborates with schools to overturn expulsions, and empowers parents to understand their children’s educational rights.
Description: A strong IEP is one of the most important tools for supporting student success. This workshop will help caregivers understand how to read and interpret an IEP, write meaningful parent input statements, evaluate measurable goals, and distinguish between accommodations and modifications. Participants will also learn how to prepare for productive IEP meetings and ensure services align with their child’s needs.
