Topic: The California Office of the Foster Care Ombudsperson (OFCO) believes that high-quality Resource Families provide children and youth with new experiences to learn skills, take advantage of opportunities, and develop healthy relationships while growing up in a stable, loving family and supportive community. This interactive workshop will help Resource Families build knowledge and apply Reasonable and Prudent
Parent Standards. It will also feature an in-depth session on Foster Youth Rights and include a review of federal and state laws as well as key definitions to provide clarity in how current legislation is impacting the foster care community. Lastly, we’ll feature plenty of real-life scenarios to empower you in making the best choices to meet the unique needs of youth and children you care for. The best Resource Family is a KNOWLEDGEABLE Resource Family. The OFCO is here to provide tools and be a resource!

Internet access and access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone is required to attend.

For our support group meetings, all participants must have their cameras on, regardless of whether they are seeking credit or not. This requirement is designed to encourage full engagement and connection among participants, fostering a more supportive atmosphere within our community. Please note that individuals unable to participate with their cameras on will not be able to join the support group sessions.

We kindly request that participants avoid using distracting virtual backgrounds. For privacy, we recommend using the blur feature instead.
