Online | Positive Parenting / Positive Discipline- Training & Support: Sibling Rivalry
Meets every 2nd Friday of the Month
Leader: Carrie Collins
Positive Parenting / Positive Discipline: This class welcomes caregivers into a supportive space to explore positive parenting and discipline. Together, participants will consider each child’s unique needs and discuss how loving, thoughtful parenting can guide children without expecting perfection. By recognizing that there are no perfect parents-and no single approach that works for every child-caregivers can feel encouraged, understood, and supported as they continue growing in their parenting journey.
Topic: If you have more than one child, chances are that you have experienced sibling rivalry in your home. While sibling rivalry is nothing new, the level and intensity of it can be exponentially magnified when one or more of the children in your home has a history of trauma.
Trauma undermines a child’s placement in the family system, and it compromises a child’s regulatory system. The combination of these can have a devastating effect on the ability of siblings to get along and it can easily destroy any sense of peace in a home. Traditional suggestions such as consequences, time-outs, and “just letting them work it out” not only do not work but can be harmful for families dealing with sibling rivalry at much more intense levels. We will give you positive parenting tools that have been proven to work to help bring peace within your home.
For our training & support meetings, all participants must have their cameras on, regardless of whether they are seeking credit or not. This requirement is designed to encourage full engagement and connection among participants, fostering a more supportive atmosphere within our community.
