
Online | From Awareness to Action: Enhancing Foster Care Through Occupational Therapy
Guest Speaker: Armando Garcia-Balogh brings a unique perspective as both a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) and a dedicated resource parent. His personal and professional experiences inform his passion for improving occupational therapy access and outcomes for children in foster care. Currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy, Armando is committed to empowering Resource Parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools to successfully obtain OT services for their children.
Description: This class is designed for Resource Parents supporting children in foster care. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of occupational therapy (OT) and how OT supports children’s developmental, emotional, and behavioral growth. The session will highlight the benefits of OT for foster children, describe the types of services available, and provide practical guidance on how to learn about and access OT services. Attendees will leave with valuable knowledge, helpful resources, and increased confidence to advocate effectively for occupational therapy services that enhance the well-being of foster children.
