Stereotypes are an ingrained part of the thinking of most Americans. We make assumptions and take actions regarding others who are different than we ourselves based on the “isms” and “bias” programmed into our minds when we were children. Denying our use of
stereotypes is sincere since most of our biases are unconscious and come into play in our thinking without recognition. This seminar explores the impact of ethnocentric behavior on our ability to build effective cross‐cultural relationships and gives tips on how to avoid “cultural collisions” when dealing with diverse others. Come and discuss biases form and how to recognize and reduce them.
