Online I Understanding the Requirements and Best Practices of Psychotropic Medication
Instructor: Lori Switanowski, LMFT
Description: Join us for a powerful three-hour training, “Understanding the Requirements and Best Practices of Psychotropic Medication,” designed specifically for caregivers supporting foster and adopted youth in California. This engaging workshop explores how trauma, loss, and early adversity can impact a young person’s developing brain and influence behavior, emotions, and overall well-being. Participants will gain a clear understanding of California’s laws, safeguards, and guidelines surrounding the use of psychotropic medications for youth in care—ensuring decisions are safe, informed, and youth-centered. The training also highlights effective alternative interventions, trauma-responsive strategies, and a wide range of supportive resources available to caregivers. Leave feeling informed, empowered, and better equipped to advocate for the health and healing of the children and teens you support.
