Guest Speaker: Dr. Jerel Ezell
Dr. Jerel is a professor, social epidemiologist, and Fulbright Scholar dedicated to addressing health disparities. He directs the Berkeley Center for Cultural Humility and leads Research Lateral, a community lab focused on equity in health and social services. With a doctorate from the University of Chicago and an MPH from Columbia, his work bridges research, advocacy, and practice, helping families and professionals better understand the impact of culture, community, and systemic inequities on health and well-being.
Description: This interactive training integrates cultural humility and trauma-informed practice to help caregivers and professionals build stronger, more respectful relationships across cultural differences while effectively supporting individuals who have experienced trauma. Participants will explore cultural humility as a lifelong practice that deepens self-awareness, enhances active listening, strengthens socioemotional intelligence, and fosters meaningful connections with people of diverse identities and backgrounds.
