Known for her honest, down-to-earth, and humorous approach, she has trained thousands of professionals and caregivers across the U.S., Canada, and beyond, helping them better understand challenging behaviors through compassion, brain science, and lived experience. Drawing from both personal and professional insight, Barb is deeply committed to helping families move from surviving to thriving.

Description: Caring for individuals who have experienced trauma is both profoundly rewarding and deeply exhausting. It demands patience, flexibility, and an endless well of compassion—qualities that can only be sustained when we also care for ourselves. This keynote invites caregivers and professionals to pause, exhale, and reconnect with the three anchors that keep us steady through it all: humility, humor, and hope.

Through relatable stories, practical insights, and heartfelt encouragement, we’ll explore:

  • Humility: Embracing the humbling moments that remind us we don’t have to have all the answers—and giving ourselves grace to be human.
  • Humor: Finding laughter in the chaos and permission to let joy coexist with exhaustion, grief, and growth.
  • Hope: Nurturing the quiet belief that change is possible—for those we care for, and for ourselves.

This session is a celebration of the perseverance and love that define caregivers and professionals, and a gentle reminder that self-care isn’t selfish—it’s survival. By the end, you’ll leave with renewed energy, lighter shoulders, and a few more tools to help you refill your own cup while continuing the vital work you do every day.
