Description: The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) requires each State to have provisions or procedures for requiring certain individuals to report known or suspected instances of child abuse and neglect. This workshop will discuss the laws that designate the groups of professionals that are required to report cases of suspected child abuse and neglect and reporting by other persons, the responsibilities of institutions in making reports, the standards for making a report and the confidentiality of the reporter’s identity.
