Online | Parenting Teens Support Group: Advocating for School Issues
Meets every 2nd Thursday of the month
Support Group Leader: MaryJo Meer
Topic: Many youths in foster care struggle both academically and behaviorally in the school environment because of either the trauma they experienced, having changed schools often, missing too much school, or never went to school until entering foster care. All of these factors impact a child’s ability to learn. Many youths in foster care are in special education or should be receiving special education services. We will discuss how to navigate this system for our kids.

Internet access and access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone is required to attend.
For our support group meetings, all participants must have their cameras on, regardless of whether they are seeking credit or not. This requirement is designed to encourage full engagement and connection among participants, fostering a more supportive atmosphere within our community. Please note that individuals unable to participate with their cameras on will not be able to join the support group sessions.
We kindly request that participants avoid using distracting virtual backgrounds. For privacy, we recommend using the blur feature instead.
You cannot take this class in a vehicle.
