Online |Knowledge Exchange- Training & Support: Navigating the System
Meets every 3rd Tuesday of each month
**No meeting July**
Leader: Lisa de las Alas
Knowledge Exchange- a friendly, feel-good space where foster, kinship, and adoptive caregivers can gather, learn, laugh a little, and leave with tools they can actually use. This group is a chance to swap stories, ask questions, share “what works,” and pick up practical strategies for supporting children who have experienced trauma, loss, or big life changes. Come join us, bring your questions, and enjoy a community that understands the journey and is here to cheer you on along the way.
Topic: The foster care system can feel overwhelming at first-with court dates, paperwork, unfamiliar terms, services, child care needs, and resources to track all at once. This class is designed to help resource parents feel more confident, informed, and prepared as they navigate the system and advocate for the children in their care.
You will learn what to expect from the court process, how to manage important paperwork, how to understand common social worker language, and where to turn when children need services, child care, or additional support. Whether you are new to foster care or simply want to better understand how everything fits together, this class will give you practical guidance, helpful tools, and the confidence to take the next step with clarity.
For our training & support meetings, all participants must have their cameras on, regardless of whether they are seeking credit or not. This requirement is designed to encourage full engagement and connection among participants, fostering a more supportive atmosphere within our community. Please note that individuals unable to participate with their cameras on will not be able to join the sessions.
