Online | Foster to Forever Support Group: Parenting Sexualized Children

An opportunity to meet with other foster/adoptive families to share experiences, discuss the foster/adoption process, and support each other while awaiting a foster/adoptive placement.

Topic: As a parent or caregiver of a child or youth who has a known or suspected history of being sexually abused, you may feel confused about the impact of the abuse and uncertain about how you can help. However, it is important to understand that children and youth who have been abused need to feel safe and loved in nurturing homes. As a parent or caregiver, you can play a central role in your child’s healing process, as well as in “building resilience,” which strengthens your child’s ability to adapt to or cope with adversity. This class will discuss normal sexual development, the special needs of sexualized children, recommended treatment for sexually abused children, and accessing resources that can help in your child’s healing process.

Internet access and access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone is required to attend.
For our support group meetings, all participants must have their cameras on, regardless of whether they are seeking credit or not. This requirement is designed to encourage full engagement and connection among participants, fostering a more supportive atmosphere within our community. Please note that individuals unable to participate with their cameras on will not be able to join the support group sessions.
We kindly request that participants avoid using distracting virtual backgrounds. For privacy, we recommend using the blur feature instead.
