Read me like a book: The BIPOC Human Library Experience helps to address unconscious bias and creates a brave space for dialogue between non‐BIPOC individuals and BIPOC individuals. The BIPOC Human Library Experience aims to address people’s prejudices by helping them to talk and learn from those they would not normally meet. It uses a library analogy of lending people rather than books. During this session, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the Human Library concept and see the process in action.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain diverse perspectives from others
- Develop trauma-informed, compassionate, and empathetic communication through active listening, curiosity, and appreciative inquiry
- Improve storytelling and speaking skills by telling your sacred story in a brave space
On the day of class participants will choose two (2) books they want to hear from in the library catalog below. Please click the link or scroll down below to review the library catalog.
Please note, childcare is not provided onsite. Please do not bring babies or children to class.
