In-Person | North County Foster Parent Association (NCFPA)- Training & Support: Navigating the System
Meets 2nd Tuesday of the month- In-Person
**No meeting in August and December**
Support Group Leader: Rhonda Oliver
North County Foster Parent Association-In-person foster parent training and supports are hosted at Straight from the Heart (SFTH) in collaboration with the North County Foster Parent Association (NCFPA). These meetings provide a supportive environment for foster, adoptive, and kinship caregivers to share experiences, navigate the child welfare system, and earn required training hours.
Topic: The foster care system can feel overwhelming at first-with court dates, paperwork, unfamiliar terms, services, child care needs, and resources to track all at once. This class is designed to help resource parents feel more confident, informed, and prepared as they navigate the system and advocate for the children in their care.
You will learn what to expect from the court process, how to manage important paperwork, how to understand common social worker language, and where to turn when children need services, child care, or additional support. Whether you are new to foster care or simply want to better understand how everything fits together, this class will give you practical guidance, helpful tools, and the confidence to take the next step with clarity.
Coming together in a supportive environment to help one another.
This is best done in person.
