Dr. Kanani Titchen is an adolescent medicine specialist and Associate Professor at UCSD who

specializes in caring for preteens, teens, and young adults at Rady Children’s Hospital Medical Behavioral Unit (MBU) for patients with eating disorders. She also sees outpatients at the UCSD/RADY Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Medicine Clinic. She serves as Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Medical Student Rotation and Sub‐Internship for the Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She is also an adoptive parent.

 

 

 

 

Description: Led by local experts, this training will provide a brief recap of the neurobiology that influences behaviors during adolescence, the impact of childhood trauma on the brain and behavior, as well as a variety of strategies for working with early‐, mid‐, and late‐adolescent aged kids. Topics such as hygiene, sleep regulation and meals, to issues around technology use, injurious behaviors, and healthy relationships will be discussed.
