The Art of A-Z Parenting: Building Connection and Resiliency at Every Age and Stage
Instructors: Aisha Pope, LCSW, BCD & Lauren Gray, LCSW
Do you ever wonder why your kids do what they do? Do you find that sometimes parenting strategies that used to work just aren’t working anymore?
Children who come to their foster and adoptive homes through the child welfare system often have a history of trauma that has a strong influence on how they think, feel, and behave.
In this informative and interactive training, we’ll take a look at trauma and the effects on the children in our care, including how it affects attachment and influences how we parent them.
Our focus will be on practical parenting tools that can be used to address the behaviors and needs associated with trauma, improve relationships, build resiliency, and help our children learn to be respectful, responsible, and contributing.
We also recognize that parenting is rewarding, yet exhausting work, so we’ll look at how parents can take care of themselves and each other. We hope you’ll join us as we learn and practice a variety of Positive Discipline tools.
