Online | Considering the Trauma, Self-Esteem, Hair & Skin Care for Black & Multi-Ethnic Foster Youth
Instructor: Tanisha Fulcher
Description:This is a trauma‐informed training on the significance of haircare & skincare for multi‐ethnic youth in out‐of‐home placement. Multi‐Ethnic foster youth are disproportionately represented in the foster care system and are more likely to be placed in out‐of‐home care. Haircare can have a significant impact on a foster youth’s behaviors, emotions, and self‐esteem, especially when they are placed with resource parents who do not look like them. The goal of this training is to provide a trauma‐informed perspective while also equipping participants with tools and skills to help mitigate this issue.
