It’s All About That Brain: Essentials of Developmental Neuroscience for Caregivers
Instructor: Morgan P. Appel, Assistant Dean at UC San Diego
Designed for caregivers, this interactive session explores the fundamentals of developmental neurobiology and its role in learning; attachment; socialization and relationships; cultivating resilience (growth mindset) and bolstering emotional intelligence.
Specific attention is paid to unique challenges faced by foster youth at both school and home, including chronic stress, and anxieties associated with transitions, uncertainty, and instability that may result in inappropriate or disruptive behaviors. A variety of brain- and user-friendly resources, tools and strategies will be shared, focusing on both cognitive and socioemotional domains.
Please note, no childcare is provided or available onsite. Do not bring babies or children to class. Thank you!
