Fitness for Fostering Fridays will be opportunities for Resource Parents to attend workshops mini‐ conference style held on Fridays to help enhance their family’s fitness and capacity for fostering children from out of home placement. Workshops will be lead by local, state or national expert guest speakers.
Fitness for Fostering Fridays is also an opportunity for Resource Parents to meet with other families, receive support and make long lasting connections. Resource Parents will have the opportunity to attend workshops either in the morning, afternoon or both if they choose.
Session 2| Trauma and Motivation and Best Practices for Working with Foster Youth
As a former foster youth and having become a guardian to her siblings, Dr. Keating’s history in foster care has given her a passion for bringing awareness on how to better support foster youth students to reach their fullest potential. This workshop will review the impact trauma has young individuals but how motivation and best practices from caregivers or that one individual can help to change the trajectory of a youth’s life!
Guest Speaker: Dr. Danisha Keating
Danisha Keating, CEO, National Keynote Speaker, and National‐Selling Author of “From Foster to Ph.D.: Letters from a Suitcase”. Dr. Danisha Keating was in the foster care system and a guardian to her siblings. Her history in foster care has given her a passion for bringing awareness on how to better support foster youth students and helping parents and professionals change their trajectory.
