In Person | Do My Hair! Hands On Hair Care for Resource Families Caring for Children with Multi Ethnic Backgrounds
Guest Speaker: Shor Denny, CEO Community Now
Shor Denny, founder of Community Now = Positive Change, developed innovative programs like GET PLUGGED IN and Me, Myself & Mine to address the long-term impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on children. Drawing from her personal journey with childhood trauma, Shor created these initiatives to foster resilience and mental well-being in children, teaching them how to respond positively to challenges. Recognizing that many families may lack the tools to build resilience, Community Now fills this gap by empowering children to develop healthy coping skills and a hopeful outlook on life.
Description:During this hands‐on workshop participants will better understand how to support youth to have stronger confident identities by learning how to care for multi‐ethnic hair in order to teach their youth how to care for and appreciate their own natural hair.
For this class only, Resource Parents are encouraged to bring their youth (limit one youth per family due to space) to work on their hair. Please bring hair products currently being used at home.
