Building a Bridge: Resource Parents Partnering with Birth Parents to Benefit Children
Instructors: Nicole Espinosa, LCSW & Carol Kosik Sproul, Social Worker
Many people became a resource family to help children and families and to make a difference in a child’s life. One of the most significant ways you can impact a child’s life is by working with the birth parents to rebuild their family. Understandably, many resource families find it challenging to work with birth parents that have neglected or abused their children. Come and learn about the grief process and the effects of trauma on birth parents, discuss the challenges and fears of building positive connections with birth families, gain the tools to engage with birth parents and understand the significant impact and benefits shared parenting can have on a child. There will be a panel of birth parents to share their stories and answer questions.
