Online Foster Care Training
All online classes are free of charge. Foster parents may only use 4 hours of credit per year from online classes. The rest of the hours must be taken in a regular classroom setting.
Registration deadline is the 10th of the month. Please only register for one month at a time during the registration period for that month, (1st-10th) as we will no longer take multiple class registrations. No registrations will be taken after the 10th of the month.
Only one online class will be offered each month, which will begin on the 15th and end on the 30th.
Each participant must email the instructor to request entrance into the online class. We will no longer allow multiple registrants in one email. Each individual must have his or her own email address. Couples cannot share an email address to access this online training program.
You will be sent an email from the instructor directing you to a Survey Monkey on or before the 14th of the month which will take your name, home address, home telephone and email address. It takes seconds to fill out and submit.
It will be expected that you log onto the class on the first date of the class and finish all activities by the last day of class to receive credit. If you have registered and not received information on the 15th when class begins, please immediately notify us. Your computer must be fairly new. Older computers may not work.
Some basic computer skills are necessary to successfully complete the class. You must be able to view videos, download/upload items off the internet, open forms, fill them out, save them and attach them to an email and send them to the administrator. We no longer accept faxes.
You will receive a 2-hour certificate for completing each topic online. It will not be given to you when you complete the course, but about a week after the class closes on the 30th. Certificates will come in the mail to your home. Please take this into consideration if you are in immediate need.
You can use up to 4 hours of online training per year to meet your 8-hour mandated training requirement. The online classes cannot be used to satisfy pre-service training or adoption classes. The remainder of your 8 hours can be done in Support Group trainings or in other scheduled classes.
Credit earned from completing online classes will not count towards the 8 hour training mandate until you hold a foster care license.
