Online | Domestic Violence & Trauma Bonding
Part of The Domestic Violence Series
It is often believed that intimate partners are the only victims of domestic violence. However, children can also be involved and are victims. Out of 100 reported cases of domestic violence in San Diego, 37% of them involved children. Child Welfare Services (CWS) has seen first‐hand how domestic violence can impact families. In 32.8% of the family assessments made by CWS in 2017, domestic violence was a factor.
There are many forms to domestic violence. Understanding the different types of abusive acts and the impacts it can have on the victims psychologically can help to better support those families with more care, compassion, and understanding.
