Online | Resource Family Approval (RFA) – A Shared Purpose! Support Group: Resource Parents as Mandated Reporters
Meets every 2nd Friday of the Month
**No Meeting July & December**
Support Group Leader: MaryAnn Paschal
This is an ongoing support group to help all types of caregivers, relatives, non‐related extended family members (NREFMs), and community members navigate the RFA process in their caregiving journey. Discussions will include RFA pre/post-approval requirements, how to comply with the County/State regulations once certified as a resource parent, community resources available for children and caregivers, and how resource parents can build/expand their support network. Being a resource parent is a rewarding experience that might come with questions, so if you want to learn more about these topics or feel that you can benefit from talking to others with similar experiences, please join us.
Resource Parents as Mandated Reporters: The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) requires each State to have provisions or procedures for requiring certain individuals to report known or suspected instances of child abuse and neglect. This workshop will discuss the laws that designate the groups of professionals that are required to report cases of suspected child abuse and neglect and reporting by other persons, the responsibilities of institutions in making reports, standards for making a report, and the confidentiality of the reporter’s identity.
