Eating Disorders, Self Mutilation and Suicidal Ideation
The teen age years can be stressful for any child but foster youth; and especially teen foster youth are at an increased risk for some health issues because of the trauma they have experienced. Loss of control in their lives, identity issues, depression and low self -esteem can contribute to self- harming conditions such as eating disorders, self- mutilation, and suicidal ideation. We will discuss signs and symptoms of these conditions and ways to help the foster teen.
