Topic: Transitions in the foster care system can be extremely difficult for children. We want to make transitions easier for them to manage. To do this, we need tools and strategies to help them. Through this series on Transitions, we will look at different times of transition in our children’s journey through foster care and learn how we can help make these times of transition easier for our children to navigate. Session 2 workshop topic in the series of 6.
- Visitation: Visits can be very emotional for the children, the birth parents, and for Resource Parents. We will discuss managing our own emotions as well as helping our children manage theirs. How to “front load” before a visit, as well as “unload” after the visit. How to help visits run as smooth as possible and how to handle issues that we have no control over.
***Please Note: This class will be facilitated on the Zoom platform.
Internet access and access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone is required to attend.
For our support group meetings, all participants must have their cameras on, regardless of whether they are seeking credit or not. This requirement is designed to encourage full engagement and connection among participants, fostering a more supportive atmosphere within our community. Please note that individuals unable to participate with their cameras on will not be able to join the support group sessions.
We kindly request that participants avoid using distracting virtual backgrounds. For privacy, we recommend using the blur feature instead.
