Online | The Dynamics of Substance Abuse
A parent’s behavior with a substance abuse disorder can vary and can have a multifaceted impact on children. Effects can be direct (physical or sexual abuse) and/or indirect (chaotic environment or neglect). Parental substance abuse can also impact prenatal, early childhood and adolescent development.
Participants will learn about the dynamics of drug and alcohol addictions, treatment modalities and expectations from the court and Child Welfare Services for parents who struggle with substance abuse. This class will look at the impact of substance abuse on the entire family when children are brought into care.
