Navigating Special Education and Understanding the Secret Language of IEPs (Individual Education Plans)

Instructors: Michelle McGowan & Kathleen Kubota, Certified Special Education

Participants will learn about the special education process, including how to read an IEP, recognizing the red flags in an IEP, and identifying and drafting appropriate IEP goals, as well as knowing the educational rights of foster youth.

Session 1: Tuesday, January 15th

Session 2: Tuesday, January 22nd

Session 3: Tuesday, January 29th

Session 4: Tuesday, February 5th

Part 1: Introduction to IEPs

Part 2: Autism and Specific Learning Disabilities

Part 3: 504s –  Behavioral, Psychological, Emotional and Medical Accommodations

Part 4: Practical Applications – Talk to an Advocate about your Child’s IEP
