DESCRIPTION:\n\nGuest Instructor: Geneva Shaw\, MSW is a Lecturer and socia
 l work professional with over a decade of experience serving Tribal commun
 ities in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. A member of the Hoopa Valley Tri
 be and of Karuk\, Yurok\, and Apache descent\, her work focuses on ICWA\, 
 historical trauma\, and culturally responsive practices that support Indig
 enous children and families.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n
 \nDescription: This workshop provides an overview of the Indian Child Welf
 are Act (ICWA)\, including its historical context\, federal and California
  state requirements\, and the ongoing impacts of historical trauma on Nati
 ve American families and communities.\nParticipants will gain an understan
 ding of the rights of children covered under ICWA\, the importance of pres
 erving tribal identity\, and the role caregivers play in supporting cultur
 ally appropriate\, child-centered practices. The training emphasizes respe
 ct for Native American history\, culture\, tribal membership\, and maintai
 ning connections to tribal communities and traditions to promote healing a
 nd resilience for Indigenous children in care.\n***Please Note: This class
