DESCRIPTION:\n\nGuest Speaker: Dr. Angela Tobin\, OTD\, OTR/L\n\nDr.Angela 
 Tobin is a leader\, advocate\, and researcher in the ﬁeld of kinship car
 e. She is the founder and leader of Kinship Caregivers Connect\, an online
  statewide support group in Ohio. Dr. Tobin’s interest in working with k
 inship families sparked from personal experience\, as she witnessed both h
 er grandparents and parents raise her cousin (their grandson/nephew). She 
 has taken an interdisciplinary and holistic health approach to supporting 
 kinship families\, with a doctorate degree in occupational therapy and a b
 achelor's degree in educational psychology. In March 2023\, she gave a TED
 x Talk titled: "Understanding and Support Kinship Caregivers" at Ohio Stat
 e University. Angela recently partnered with Dr. Joseph Crumbley to develo
 p facilitator's guides and caregiver worksheets as part of a video trainin
 g for kinship caregivers titled The Inherent Strengths in Kinship Families
 . \n\n&nbsp\;\nDescription: This interactive session introduces the senso
 ry system and how it may be impacted by experiences of long term stress an
 d trauma. This workshop presents the sensory system as a key factor‐ and
  often missing puzzle piece‐ to understanding a child’s behavior and h
 ow they process the environment. Various sensory diﬀerences will be desc
 ribed with examples and signs for each \, as well as strategies and interv
 ention options for supporting your child or adolescent’s ability to regu
 late and process the environment to support their day to day well‐being.
