DESCRIPTION:Part 2 of the Mindfulness Series\nDescription: Mindfulness is t
 he practice of being present to one’s experience with loving attention\,
  which studies have shown helps reduce stress and promotes wellbeing. In t
 his class students will explore the essence of compassion practice\; an in
 vitation to turn towards suffering. Suffering\, as much as happiness\, i
 s part of the human experience and we can learn to offer compassion in a 
 way that doesn’t lead to compassion fatigue. The intention of the class 
 is to help students experience how compassion can strengthen our well‐be
 ing rather than deplete it.\n\nSpecial Guest Presenter: Bettina Heitmann\,
  Mindfulness Meditation Teacher\nBettina Heitmann is a graduate of the 2
 ‐year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program\, sponsored b
 y the University of California Berkeley Greater Good Science Center. She h
 as practiced meditation and yoga for 20 years and finds these practices to
  be hugely beneficial for people living in this fast paced and high stress
  society. Bettna was a social worker with Child Welfare Services\, includi
 ng the bilingual Adoptions Unit\, and non‐profit social service agencies
  for 13 years. She has a particular interest in bringing mindfulness teach
 ings to benefit Resource parents and children.\nRegistration will close on
