DESCRIPTION:Part 4 of the Mindfulness series \nMindfulness is the practice
  of being present to one’s experience with loving attention\, which stud
 ies have shown helps reduce stress and promotes well‐being.\nIn this cla
 ss students will learn to recognize emotions and how they impact our bodie
 s and minds. Bringing mindfulness to emotions and naming them as they aris
 e is a powerful tool for attending with kindness to our emotional world. P
 articipants are taught how not to be mentally hijacked by challenging emot
 ions\, but rather work with them skillfully and lessen reactivity. Practic
 ed over time\, mindfulness of emotions leads to more harmonious relationsh
 ips with loved ones and the world at large. A private and quiet space is r
 ecommended for participation in this class as well as a blanket or yoga ma
 t\, chair and loose‐ﬁtting clothes.\n\nSpecial Guest Presenter: Bettin
 a Heitmann\, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher\nBettina Heitmann is a graduat
 e of the 2‐year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program\, s
 ponsored by the University of California Berkeley Greater Good Science Cen
 ter. She has practiced meditation and yoga for 20 years and finds these pr
 actices to be hugely beneficial for people living in this fast paced and h
 igh stress society. Bettna was a social worker with Child Welfare Services
 \, including the bilingual Adoptions Unit\, and non‐profit social servic
 e agencies for 13 years. She has a particular interest in bringing mindful
 ness teachings to benefit Resource parents and children.\n&nbsp\;\nPresent
