 oster Parent Association- In-person foster parent training and supports a
 re hosted at Straight from the Heart (SFTH) in collaboration with the Nort
 h County Foster Parent Association (NCFPA). These meetings provide a suppo
 rtive environment for foster\, adoptive\, and kinship caregivers to share 
 experiences\, navigate the child welfare system\, and earn required traini
 ng hours.\n\nVisit Straight from the Heart- Families are welcome to visit 
 the Shop\, located next door to the training room\, either before or after
  the support group. Free new items will always be available for our resour
 ce and adoptive families.\n\nTopic: “Epigenetics” is an emerging area 
 of scientific research that shows how environmental influences—children
 ’s experiences—affect the expression of their genes. During developmen
 t\, the DNA that makes up our genes accumulates chemical marks that determ
 ine how much or little of the genes is expressed. This collection of chemi
 cal marks is known as the “epigenome.” The different experiences child
 ren have rearranged those chemical marks. This means the old idea that gen
 es are “set in stone” has been disproven. Nature vs. Nurture is no lon
 ger a debate. It’s nearly always both! Come learn about this exciting ar
 ea of research.\nComing together in a supportive environment to help one a
