 h special guest speaker Dr. Megan W. Zappitelli
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\nSpecial Guest Speaker Dr. Megan Zappitelli's specialty
  is pediatric psychiatry. These areas are among Dr. Zappitelli’s clinica
 l interests: psychiatric evaluation\, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)\,
  and consultation. She is an in-network provider for several insurance car
 riers\, including Amerigroup\, Coventry\, and HealthSmart. She obtained he
 r medical school training at Medical University of South Carolina College 
 of Medicine and performed her residency at a hospital affiliated with the 
 University of Kentucky. Her hospital/clinic affiliations include Dell Chil
 dren's Medical Center of Central Texas\, Seton Mind Institute\, and Greenv
 ille Health System (GHS).\n\n\nDescription: Presented by Dr. Megan W. Zapp
 itelli from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of South Caroli
 na School of Medicine Greenville\, this workshop will provide Resource Fam
 ilies with an overview of the typical brain organization and childhood dev
 elopment to help better understand the impact of traumatic experiences on 
 the development of the brain including the psychological\, developmental\,
  as well as the neurological impacts of early adverse experiences. Resourc
 e Parents will be provided with tools for assessing and understanding trau
 matized\, neglected and abused children and learn about developmentally ap
 propriate and trauma-informed treatment options for children with these ex
 periences. Lastly\, families will learn about the healing power of relatio
